Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)
Liquorice root extract is made from the rhizomes of the Glycyrrhiza glabra.
It is a versatile herb that is also widely used within the Ayurveda.
Liquorice roots are sweet in taste and naturally neutral. Powdered liquorice root has a soothing effect on the airways and has been used for this purpose for centuries. Liquorice is just about the most common used Chinese herb found in almost all recipes. Liquorice root harmonizes and strengthens the action of the mutual ingredients in a formulation, it slows down and accelerates the effects of recipes with a strong tonic.
