ALA is a plant-based form of omega-3 oil. On average, the body converts 9% of this into the essential fatty acid EPA. The body then converts about 3.8% into DHA.
What foods are ALA in?
Foods containing a high concentration of Alpha Linolenic acid include:
  • Avocado
  • Nuts (especially walnuts)
  • Seeds
  • Seaweed
  • Flaxseed (oil)

ALA is good for cholesterol levels

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2 g ALA.
